Top tip -Keeping your small paint brushes in good condition

July 3, 2008

When you buy a small pointed paint brush, it often comes with a plastic tube covering the bristles for protection.
I always lose that tube,  and my brushes are in danger of being bent and ruined when stored away.

When you have finished painting, rub the bristles with a little bath soap and water, reforming the bristles into a point. When the soap dries, it goes hard and keeps the brush in perfect shape.

Then take a drinking straw (I keep a few in my art box), cut off a length of the straw and place it over the bristles.

When you next need to use the paint brush, remove the straw and the wet the bristles to remove the soap.

Your paint brush will be as good as new.
